Digital Transport Applications

Pre-production Video Transport

IPITEK offers fiber-based encoding for transport solutions for this market segment which is characterized as requiring uncompressed and uncompromised video end-end quality. Here, NTSC and PAL standard definition are encoded with 10-bit or 12-bit sampling into a PCM data stream. SDI component video is transferred natively as 270 mb/s (SMPTE 259m) and HD video is transferred natively as 1.485 Gb/s (SMPTE-292). Video editing is performed at the receiving site with line-by-line accuracy.

Related Products:
IPISTREAM (SMPTE-292 uncompressed HD with embedded audio)
HBR-2502 (SMPTE 259m, TV-1 or PAL – 10-bit baseband analog video)
MSP-220-T (bi-directional SMPTE 259m, 12-bit TV-1 analog Video and PAL)
MSP-220-D (SMPTE 259m – bi-directional dual links)
CQ-5 and CQ-10 (12-bit TV-1 analog Video and PAL)

Mid-Production Digital Video Transport

IPITEK offers fiber based encoding for transport solutions for this market segment which is characterized as requiring light compression to conserve bandwidth yet not sacrificing quality and maintaining the ability to continue to edit the video at the receiving site. HDTV is being compressed down to 270 mb/s to use SMPTE-259m circuits, example: SMPTE 305, while standard definition video is compressed to MPEG-2 I frames which are multi-vendor compatible and run over DVB-ASI as less than 100 mb/s as single streams.

Related Products:
HBR-2502 (multi-slot Switching Mux, OC-48c link, SMPTE 259m, DVB-ASI)
MSP-220-T (dual service mux - 1 analog/1 SMPTE 259m or DVB-ASI, OC-12c, bi-directional )
MSP-220-D (dual digital service mux, OC-12c link, SMPTE 259m – bi-directional dual links)
CQ-5 and CQ-10 (multi-slot Mux, DVB-ASI – 4 port MUX PIM module)
MSP-110-HD (up to 149 mb/s, OC-3c, DVB-ASI – 1 port bi-directional)

Post-Production Distribution Video

IPITEK offers fiber based encoding for transport solutions for this market segment which is characterized as requiring efficient transport for extended distances beyond analog techniques of pre-compressed video in a format both suitable and compatible with home TVs and set-top boxes. Here cable channel modulators may be located centrally and only up-converters located at the cable hub site and IF video may be digitized and transported. All digital channels may alternatively run DVB-ASI multi-program streams to hub site located QAM digital TV modulators. Local broadcasters as well as public, educational and Government programs with assigned channels on a cable system may also send their 8 VSB digital TV or single channel DVB-ASI or analog TV to the cable operator head-end site. Here HDTV becomes a 19.4 mb/s MPEG-2 ASTC stream for todays home receiver systems.

Related Products:
HBR-2502 (switching mux, OC-48c, IF/QAM channels, DVB-ASI, 10-bit baseband TV-1 or PAL)
CQ-5 and CQ-10 (multi-slot Mux, DVB-ASI, 8 or 10-bit baseband analog video)
MSP-110 (OC-3c, DVB-ASI – bi-directional to 149 mb/s, 9-bit baseband analog video + DVB-ASI)

Metro Switched Network

IPITEK offers a complete solution for a city-wide Professional Video Network by combining the high capacity distributed switching capability of HBR-2502 with the multi-service Pt-Pt customer premises to backbone multiplexers of the MSP-110, MSP-220 and CQ familys. The Node Wizard management and control client/server software platform allows both centralized and distributed control solutions for temporary video services which need routed on-demand.
