Chairman & CEO
Michael Salour is the founder of IPITEK and serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Salour has over 30 years of experience in developing and commercializing leading-edge technologies in the fiber optics and communications industry, including both products and telecommunications networking enterprise services. Dr. Salour founded TACAN Corporation in 1982 for the purpose of developing proprietary technologies through a growth-oriented business firm. Linkatel's high-speed optical networks were successfully built and activated in 1995, serving the San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles metropolitan areas. The networks were sold in 1996 to two major broadband telecom providers, resulting in a substantial return on investment for Linkatel and its partners. In 1994, he acquired a division of Honeywell, and successfully built it into a leading supplier of components and sub-systems for Fly-by-Light technologies, optical networking and Data Link technology for mobile platforms, and other government classified products and services for secure communications, which was subsequently sold with substantial returns in 2003 to a major US Defense & Aerospace corporation.
Prior to founding TACAN and Linkatel, he held a variety of research and teaching positions and professorships at Harvard University, Imperial College of Science and Technology, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology ("M.I.T."). In 1980 he was awarded an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship from the A.P. Sloan Foundation, and in 1981 he was awarded the Esther and Harold E. Edgerton Chaired Professorship at M.I.T.
