IPITEK Releases New Software
for MSP Series of Ethernet Transporters

IPITEK, a leading designer, developer, manufacturer and supplier of Video-Optimized Intelligent Broadband Networks, announced today that its Internet Media Transport (IMTRANÒ) division has unveiled a new software release for its MSP-1GE and MSP-10G transporter platforms. The new System 3.2 software, which improves operational performance of Ethernet-based business services and features Node Wizard Network Management System, recently successfully completed a field trial in an 80-node major Multi System Operator’s (MSO) metro network.

The software provides a two-stage system for low-cost aggregation and transport of business-class Ethernet services and helps protect against operator errors while enhancing circuit-layer management. It also helps conserve fiber by using a built-in Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) or single fiber bi-directional multiplexing to the customer premise when needed.

The software upgrade is based on an in-band managed system, allowing for robust auto-detection and prevention of loops in the management path. The system also features multiple fast-protection re-routing choices to guarantee high availability, and end-end service level provisioning of Service Level Agreement (SLA) parameters, monitored with Operational Administrative and Maintenance (OAM) Continuity Check (CC) messages between Maintenance End Points (MEPs). In addition, the new software allows for correlation of circuit numbers for new port and VLAN circuit-IDs and dual-level rate limiting at the edge of the system. Finally, the system supports transport of Link Aggregation (LAG) based circuits through the system via Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) tunneling.

“We are pleased to provide this new System 3.2 software upgrade to our customers,” said Michael Salour, IPITEK’s Chairman and CEO. “It performed very well in its field trial, and will help operators save money by improving the operational functionality of their Ethernet transport platforms and conserving fiber for better system performance.”

Existing IPITEK customers with service contracts can upgrade to this new software free of charge. It is also available in the IPITEK MSP-CES platform, which supports 10GE or 1GE links and handles Ethernet-based business services as well as DS-1, DS-3, and channelized OC-3 across its synchronous Ethernet-based network.
