San Diego, CA - IPITEK, a leading provider of advanced performance fiber optic transport equipment, today announced the introduction of the new MSP-220-P Optical Link Regenerator. MSP-220-R is IPITEK's new state-of-the-art regeneration solution for extended reach fiber distances that may arise in the deployment of MSP-220-T Pro Video Platforms. This new unit provides a cost effective method for direct regeneration of MSP-220-T signals, eliminating any requirement to decode and re-encode the signals to move them over longer distances. The MSP-220-R provides full 3R capability and is designed with SFP optics. SFP pluggable optics allowing instant replacement or reconfiguration. Optics are common with MSP-220-T optics, simplifying operations and sparing requirements. The MSP-220-R can be used as a simple optical line extender in a network but it may also be used in more complex networks, providing the highest levels of redundancy in standard fiber or SONET networks. The unit is easily provisioned for various types of operation and offers laser options for 1310nm, 1550nm or CWDM Lasers.

MSP-220-R carries all of the signals generated by the new MSP-220-T Media Service Platform, including NTSC or NTSC TV-1 Video and Audio together with 270 Mb/s SDI HDTV and 100 Mb/s Ethernet. MSP-220-T is standards based OC-12c. Built in IP web based user interface provides full-featured local and remote status monitoring capabilities.

MSP-220-R is also a future proof unit. In the event future changes in network designs require a full performance unit, the unit has been designed to allow a factory upgrade to a full operation MSP-220-T. This allows the unit to provide full services at a lower cost than having to purchase a complete new unit.

Both MSP-220-R and MSP-220-T are NEBS III tested and certified and provide CLEI codes registered with Telecordia. Units include the CLEI bar code label, which is easily read with a bar code reader.
